Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh tour the beautifully-restored Canadian Museum of Nature. The Queen will greet Canadians outside this natural history museum and historic site that has welcomed visitors for 100 years.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh highlight the arts in Canada by unveiling a statue of Canadian jazz legend Oscar Peterson outside the National Arts Centre, one of Canada’s foremost showcases for the performing arts.

In the late afternoon, The Queen unveils the design for the Diamond Jubilee Window for the Senate of Canada as well as a design for a carving of The Queen for the Senate Foyer. These symbolic architectural features honouring significant celebratory occasions are key components in linking Parliament to Canada’s Head of State.

Later, The Duke of Edinburgh meets with members of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. The Duke of Edinburgh, their Colonel-in-Chief, honours the contributions of this long-serving regiment.
